Second Chance Ranch Equine Rescue

" Everything we do is for the horse. "

Our Equine Care Program

In the beginning a small farm was leased to accommodate the animals. On the surface it seemed like a wonderful plan but we quickly realized that too many of our donated dollars were going towards the upkeep of the farm and not directly to the animals. If we could reduce our overhead we could save more horses. In mid 1997 we started our foster care program. Skilled horsemen
donate the stall space and provide the care for our animals. Second Chance Ranch provides the feed, bedding, blacksmith and all medical treatment. This program has become a win win situation.
We now can make much better use our donations while SCR horses thrive on the individual attention they now receive from dedicated care givers.

Second Chance Ranch Foster Care Program

Any equine rescue is difficult at best and Second Chance Ranch takes on even the most extreme cases. It takes a team of dedicated caring professionals and experienced volunteers working together to make any rescue a successful one. The Ranch is truly blessed to have a number of Veterinarians and Blacksmiths who support our cause and offer their services and tremendous discounts. It is because of their willingness to work with SCR and their foster care providers that many rescues are ever possible.

Foster Care without Fear

It is the hope of Second Chance Ranch that the foster care experience
will be a happy one for both the care giver and the animals. To help make this happen we have developed a program that helps protect both the animals and the care providers.

Foster care providers have access to and are assisted by a team of equine care experts.

SCR recognizes the fact that each of our care providers have many different talents and skills to offer. We are careful to match an animals needs to the providers ability.

Before an animal is placed in foster care an adoption fee is set and the care provider is informed of that fee.

Once an animal is ready for adoption, its foster care provider will be offered the option to adopt the animal in their care beforeit is placed on the adoption list.

Should the care provider choose to adopt the animal in their care they will never pay more than the pre-set adoption fee, no matter what the animals true expenses have been.

Second Chance Ranch will do everything in their power to assist a foster care provider. Should at any point the care giver feel that things are not working out, SCR will remove the animal as quickly as possible without jeopardizing the safety and well-being of the animal.

Become a Foster Care Provider

If you can offer a safe loving environment for an animal in need, please consider becoming part of the Second Chance Ranch Team. Care givers are needed for animals with a wide variety of special needs. Some need complete recovery and rehab, while others may only need a kind loving home and time to heal.
